Something very crazy and exciting happened last Tuesday evening: we were invited to attend the EDC Experience movie premiere in Hollywood as well as the after-party at Supperclub in LA from Kaskade himself!!  The movie was incredible, with cameos by huge names such as Swedish House Mafia (Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello & Axwell), David Guetta, MSTRKRFT, Will.i.Am, Steve Aoki, 12th Planet, Moby, Major Lazer, Afrojack, Atrak, Benny Benassi, Travis Barker, Deadmau5 and of course Kaskade, as well as a heartfelt tribute to DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) who was unfortunately taken way too early from us.  The incredible documentary was directed by Kevin Kerslake (who has directed such music videos as “Fallen,” Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, & Rise Against) and not only captured the love of music from everyone involved, but also the behind-the-scenes insight to every aspect that brings the entire production to life.  The crew followed a few of the artists, crew, and dancers into their homes, workplace, and performance preparation.

Unfortunately, none of that made the news, headlines or blogs.  The “riots” that occurred outside of the Chinese Gromin’s Theater in Hollywood due to Kaskade announcing that he was going to play a block party before the movie premiere.  This announcement caused riots, riot police and tons of madness which eventually caused most of the people invited to the premiere not to be able to get in, including the owner & CEO of Insomniac, Pasquale Rotella.  We are extremely fortunate to have been able to not only to be invited, but also to actually make it in to the premiere around the riot police and insanity!

Be sure to check out your local showing of the EDC Experience on August 4th.  Trust me, it’s worth it.

The former Electric Daisy Carnival  Los Angeles has been moved to Las Vegas and is making the now out-of-control festival a possible Miami style 3-day weekend event.  Festival-goers will have 3 days of raving from 8 PM to sunrise as well as a multitude of pool parties at every Vegas pool with special appearances by many of the DJ’s playing at the festival.  Our guess is that this event will soon become a mini-Miami during WMC/Ultra, but only time will tell.  Here are some of the events outside of EDC, so start planning accordingly!

  • Wynn – Tryst Night Club // Dada Life
  • Venitian – Tao Nightclub // ATB

If anyone is still looking for transportation from Southern California area/San Diego to Las Vegas be sure to book a ticket on the first ever private plane with a DJ spinning live on board at Envy Thys.  A few packages for the private plane and charter buses still available at a discounted rate on their website.  Party responsibly.

Here are a few tunes for you this week in preparation for the crazy upcoming long weekend in Vegas for EDC!  We’ve thrown in a wide variety of tracks to satisfy all the EDM lovers.  The Benjamin Bates bootleg is a big favorite of Fedde le Grand which he dropped at Ultra this year in Miami as well as many of his other shows during his USA tour.  Another new track by Avicci is so pretty and melodic, we can’t wait for the full version to be released.  Mord Fustang, who is still the mystery artist in the industry, continues to release the most incredible tracks and remixes, literally every one is incredible.  Who is Mord Fustang?! Can’t get enough of eery vocals alongside beautiful melodies.

•     Hello (Benjamin Bates bootleg) – Martin Solveig feat. Dragonette [download]
•     Finally – Mord Fustang [preview]
•     Fade into Darkness – Avicci [preview]
•     Bright Lights, Big City (The Shapeshifters ‘Heavy Disco’ mix) – Cee Lo Green [Soundcloud]

We have just received leaked information about the legendary Armin van Buuren being confirmed to play at Hardrock San Diego’s Special Saturday Intervention over Memorial Day weekend.  The last time the trance legend played a big show in San Diego was in March of 2006 at 4th & B  alongside Markus Schulz, so this is truly a special event not to be missed.  This last year, van Buuren was announced, for the 4th year running, as the number 1 DJ, thus prolonging his title as ‘Most Popular DJ in the World’.

Opening for him will be a special guest Blake Jarrell who signed with Armin’s label, Armada Music a few years ago before quickly exploding into the scene and has now been named THE resident DJ for Marquee nightclub at The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas.

Tickets will be available soon through the Eventvibe website so keep checking back to see soon!

Ready to kick your Summer off right? San Diego sure has quite the  epic line up for everyone; between Intervention at the Hard Rock, and the infamous Wavehouse (aka Ravehouse) in Pacific Beach.  For the past two years now San Diego is truly taking  ‘Sunday Funday’ to a whole new level.  Between the two companies of LED and Eventvibe, San Diego is getting to see huge International/World Wide talent that compete with all the hot spots in the World.

Last year definitely set the tone, and has created much attention and anticipation for another great summer.  Deadmau5, Chuckie, Steve Aoki, Benny Benassi, Bad Boy Bill, Kaskade, Wolfgang Gartner are just a few of the names that were throwing down at the best pool and beach parties last year in SD, and this year sure will not be a disappointment.

Intervention kicks off this Sunday, and they are starting with a legend in the game of Dance music.  Paul Oakenfold has been touted as one of the world’s leading DJ/remixers by various outlets including CNN, Rolling Stone, BPM, Remix and more.  He is a 2x Grammy nominee who has been performing around the world since the late 80’s.  If you are new to the Dance scene, you truly don’t want to miss Mister Oakenfold, he truly is a godfather in the house music movement and will go down in the record books.

Sunshine is in the forecast and the bikinis will be out, the bars will be open and Bobby Reyes will be running around to capture it all, so make sure you’re looking your best and get ready to kick off the summer season!
